Contact Book App Recensioni

Does not work

I purchased this app for $4.99 and it won't even let me open it. Wondering if this is yet another scam. Please refund me my money.

Doesn't even open

3/24/2022 I just bought this app and it does not open. Tried several times. Kept giving me an error. Disappointed. Would like a refund.

Works great!

Would like Apple to bring back ths "real life" look to its apps again. It's time.

NO INSTRUCTIONS?????

Nothing more than a robot. Have to do something in address book to show up here. No way to know if/how you can link this to iphone or ipad. I'm asking for a refund because it's not useful the way it is.

The Best Apple Like Contact book

This should be part of the MacOS System Apps for sure!!!!

Never worked

In spite of bad reviews, thought I give it a try as I only wanted a simple Contact book to replace Apples which somehow got corrupted. Downloaded it to OS 10.12 .6 and it never worked at all. Couldn’t even enter names. Waste of Money.

Just a MAC Contact Duplicator - No Sync - Useless

There is NO Sync with iCloud. Just grabs whats on your Mac. and differently displays it. No worth .05 no less $4.99. Don’t wast your money on this ONE. Not updated in years.

Christmas Card List

I bought this contact book as I was looking for a way to keep a good Christmas Card book with a Christmas Exchange group. I have tons of addresses. Well today…it is freezing up. Has shut down several times on it’s own. Very Frustrating. I’m hoping and crossing my fingers that I have not lost any information!. Time to backup!

best contact book ever

some of tools does not work; such as ; make a call, remind me…send email . Need an option to add fonts style and color and the ability to make a call from the contact book. i will pay for the upgrade don’t worry. thank you. i know you can do it.

Unresolved crash with CardDAV contacts

I purchased this app as an interim solution to a bug in Apple’s Contact app which causes it to get “beachballs” when adding or editing a contact that resides on a CardDAV remote server (supposedly due to an issue related to sandboxing). This app consistently crashes when editing an existing CardDAV contact; the crash can be consistently reproduced. I contacted the developer and at first got a “It doesn’t crash for us” reply; then I sent in a crash report, and was told that they would look into it and provide a fix; that was 4 weeks ago. And so, this app failed at helping me get around the bug in Contacts due to its own bugs relating to CardDAV contacts. I would ask for my money back if I could.

Nothing but a “paper” address book!

I can’t create labels, excel spreadsheet - nothing. All I can do is record addresses, phone numbers, etc……just like my old paper day planner. I didn’t need to spend another $5 for this app, as it’s useless to me.

NOT A STAND ALONE CONTACTS APPLICATION

In order to use this application, you MUST allow access to your default MAC address book. I looking for a seperate address/contact book. When I said do not allow access to contacts. The application would not allow me to go further. I was expecting be be ablel to begin adding contacts from scratch. SO DISAPPOINTED!! I FIGURED FOR THE PRICE, IT WOULD BE MORE THAT A GLORIGIED GUI INTERFACE. TOATALLY HATE THIS APP!!

Contack Book

I purchased the product for my iMac 10.6.8 which is a later version than 10.6.6. every time I started the program it shut right back down.I restarted my machine no help. I uninstalled and restarted nand reinstalled the program still had same problem. Could never get it to work. I send a message to them and can only hope that I get my refund.

watch out — you may not want to link it to your Contacts

My whole need for this app was to pull certain information off of Contacts, and store it somewhere that would not sync to the cloud. It might have worked — however, when you start up Contact Book, it asks if you want to import information from Contacts. Sure, I thought, then I’ll just delete what I don’t want, saves time. NOT. When you have linked them, whatever you edit in one, also changes in the other. So I was happily deleting contact information from Contact Book only to discover it was disappearing from my Contacts! And because of the d**n iCloud, this information updated and disappeared from my iPhone before I thought of turning off the iCloud for Contacts. Total bust, and now I’ve lost a bunch of info. As a separate item, why oh why did Apple make us use the cloud for syncing Contacts?!!!! It was great before….

Take This As A Warning

Purchashed a few week ago and it wont even open, i feel like i have been robbed. Worse app ever, dont waste your money. It literally does not work AT ALL.

One Ups the Lion Address Book

Original post from Dec 2012. Ok … yes … most of the functionality is the same as Address Book in Lion. This app is just a little more polished looking. But … there is one feature that makes it worth it for me. The ability to access various group lists via a drop down menu! This is the only thing I hated about Address Book in Lion; having to click on the "bookmark ribbon" in order to access my list of groups. Only then could I select another group from the list. Two steps ? … Come on Apple … your better than that. UPDATE - May 25,2013 …. I discovered a flaw that caused me to go back to OS X's Contact app. Apparently in its current version Contact Book does not seem to recognize "Corporate names". When I enter these they wind up listed under "N' in the alphabet with the header "No Name". Also … yes it is slower ro launch than it should be. If they could fix these two things I woul;d give them 4 stars. I do also REALLY LIKE having my contact's photo, not just on the V-card, but also a small one in the "Scrolling List" … Now if you REALLY want to make a 5 Star Contact app …. make it so you can list Corp Accounts that crossreferences all the individuals that work for that company. In other words I can go to a CORP listing, see a list of everyone who works there and click on a name and it would take me to their specific individual contact info. Now that would be worth 5 STAR!!!

Awesome alternative for Apple Address book

OMG… finally an end to my EXTREME frustration to Apple's Address book! Finally a WYSIWYG interface alternative to Apple's (and other software designer/providers) trend to design an alternate universe of automatic correct & fill, unexplained obscure icons/symbols and, non-intuitive screen representations etc etc. This app exists because there is a software designer that understands there is a market for virtually represented data (that looks and acts) in a familiar form/design that relates to (my) everyday physical experience (in this case a paper address book). Thanks… My life has just become easier and less frustrating!!!

Literally does not work

The app doesn't launch on Snow Leopard, nor does it on Lion. What's up with that? It's literally the worst app I've bought… :(

Caveat emptor

This is neither an ambitious nor expensive app, but it's also not clear why it exists. Yes, it has a variety of differences with the Contacts app built into OS X, but it's not apparent to me what killer feature this app delivers. It's not even clear what it does as well or better than the built in Contacts app. The features it does have seem unfinished (unpolished) and sluggish. Perhaps this is a good example of "you get what you pay for"?

Wasn't anyone born before 2000?

I synced all my gmail contacts over to my new Mac, into this app. It seems to be suffering from a case of retro Y2K bug or something. You can't enter the year 19__ anything, only 20__. I tried to enter 1979 for something and it kept kicking out the 19 to "00." Also, when I tried to edit my contacts, it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to do it, because there aren't any clues that the little pencil is what you click on to edit. It would be very helpful if, when you rolled over that pencil with the cursor, it said "edit." other than that, I love the fact that this app lets you color code all the different groups, and especially that you can download photos - nice big ones - not just tiny faces with each contact.

Good App

I reluctantly forked over then $4.99 for something that at first seemed to be so similar the Address Book. After further inspection and use, it is an obvious improvement to the Apple app. Upon opening it for the first time, it instantly imported all my contact and groups. It was a quick and easy task to assign colors to my groups. Although you can "search" for a contact in both apps, only Contact Book has index tabs just like a real address books often have, and the "cover flow" feature. Also, tech support responded imediately to a question I had on some unusually formated FB profile data that was showing up on some of my contacts - they informed me that this was a "sandboxing" issue, and that they are currently working to fix it in a update due in the next 14 days.

Adds Color & Leather / Lacks Intuitiveness

I wanted instant integration with email and effortless migration from my iMac's address book. My expectationns were dashed as email integration is spotty or incomplete and the migration (info identically copied and moved from one app to another) actually produced twins of every contact entry migrated. I'm a career Outlook user so separate apps which aim at Outlook's integration then woefully miss the target leave me with the feeling of jilted compromise: At least they've tried, and perhaps users unfamiliar with the efficiency of accurate contact information which auto-fills the address boxes of email programs might be happy to have their info in one place, even if that "one place" happens to be autocratic.

neat

Just installed. Pretty interface. I like it, much more refined than the default address book. Problem: resizing is hard, at least on my MBA. If I point to the lower right corner and drag, I can only change the width. Since my screen is small, I want to change the height.

Good not Great

I find this address book to be pretty average but what do you expect for $4. Overall it's functional but lacking a few things that I would think would be common sense, for example... *You can't put a family in as a "contact" because it only gives you an option of adding 1 birthday per "contact"...so each person needs to be their own seperate contact. *You can't hover over the different option buttons to find out what they do and the buttons are odd pictures so you can't even guess what they do. *The reminders setting is incredibly confusing, it doesn't state what the reminder is for..(birthday, anniversary) and you have no idea if it sets it up as recurring. *If you decide to add the birthdate of a contact you need to know their birth year for it to save..I have no idea of people's birth years if they aren't family nor do I want to ask them what year they are born.

I want to like this, but….

I really want to like this app, after all the new address book in Lion is terrible, and this has some extra bells and whistles. However, it gets very slow sometimes. It also has some other issues… like once you select a letter from the filter on the left side, there is no apparent way to get back to seeing all contacts without completely quitting the app and starting over (and that's a slow process!) Also, it does not seem to support contacts being in multiple groups. I do like color coding and the quick select access to data. I really wish the developer would take his current ideas and get rid of the "book" theme and give us a three-column layout like the old Pre-Lion address book, with the ability to drag-and-drop between groups and so forth. Right now it's okay, but probably not worth the money until these issues are ired out.

Slow and not useful

This app locks up, is slow to run and has very few features that are worth anything. Save your money.

application did not launch!!

application did not launch!!!!!!! beware...

Needs more...

It would be helpful if there was a way to sinc all of my cell phone contacts to this application, save time. It would also be nice to be able to load pictures for contacts from anywhere on the internet...like Facebook. If this could be compatible with an ipod touch and other devices that would be excellent.....so that I could have this exact address book on the go, it holds more information in it than my cell phone contact list has!!! Other than that, it is so helpful that it looks like an actually paper book!

Good app...

This is a good app but already I see some need for enhancements... 1. Recurruring alarms/reminders for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. 2. I would prefer to choose what is displayed - picture only vs picture with email vs picture with company 3. I would like my contacts logged by last name... not first name... 4. I am having trouble typing in the notes section... need this option to work 5. Need the option to customize... I might want to add things like favorite color, shoe size, etc... Thanks and looking forward to enhancements!!!

freezing

it keeps freezing immediately everytime i try and open it, anyone else having this problem?

Waste of Money

DON'T BUY. This app is a piece of ****. Please don't waste your money. Nothing works as you would expect. Fields seem to display in a random order from record to record. Don't even think the alphabetical index on the edge does anything. You can not click on a letter and go to the records starting with that letter. Worse of all, author doesn't answer or acknowledge support emails. Please save your money!!

Not really ready for Prime Time

Was hopeful that the app would go to access MY Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter contacts and add that info for me, but no. The only Social networks are Facetime, Skype and Twitter, and I have to put that info in manually. It added some groups that I don't use - Work, Family, Friends, Club, Relatives, Sports. It does NOT add the Last Import group, which I need to access all the time. I have a couple of thousand contacts, and this app is slow to respond to navigation clicks or resizing. Slow and cumbersome. Save your $5 and get yourself a candy bar and a soda. You'll be much happier.

Makes no sense

The order of the information in each address tab is completely nonsensical and there is no way to customize what info should show up. It looks nice but needs a lot of work. I deleted it right away. 6 bucks down the drain.

Great Idea.

Now this is what I call an Contact Book. Wowowowowow! The sliding contact pictures feature is a great idea. All thumbs up.

Congratulations

This is just what I need. The app is very transparent and looks like it could be expanded easily to keep up with the additional requirements. Congratulations to the developer for hiding the back bone of a highly functional app under a beautiful skin.
